Candy on the Daily

I just can't help myself when I see delightful specs, even in illustration form.

This was at the bottom of one of my Daily Candy messages, which are tons of fun, in case you didn't know. Every Monday-Friday I get the 'Everywhere' version, and it tells me about cool brands or products or websites or travel destinations or...

Well, you get the idea. It's free, and it's usually pretty funny. Plus, they have great drawings and style. There's an edition for most major cities, and every Tuesday you can get Daily Candy Deals, which offers discounts at 3-5 e-tailers.

Try a bite, won't you?

New Digs

In the matter of just a few days, my life has taken a substantial turn--for the better! I accepted a job in Nashville and had to quickly find a place to live. Luckily, I happened upon a pretty awesome apartment "community" just a mile from the office.

My idea is to show a sort of move-in-progress, so I'll start with the pictures I took when I was apartment shopping. Enjoy the tour.

Here is the kitchen. :)
This is the living room. I'm tempted to make a Clueless reference in regard to the columns. And please pay no mind to the carpet. They had used a commercial vacuum that made these weird patterns.

I promptly used the EnviroVac upon move-in.

Here is the bedroom, right off of the living room area. You can look out from the window onto a small patio. There's also a hallway that connects to the bathroom.

The bathroom is not too small and not too big. Plus, it has plenty of cabinet space.

I tried to take pictures that showed everything, but getting the angles right was difficult. There are several doors in the apartment.
The lil' laundry closet is in the hallway and has sliding doors to conceal the mess and keep things quiet.

In the (somewhat) near future I'll show you how things look once I get everything where it needs to go. Hopefully a couch will be purchased this weekend, and curtains won't be far behind.

Thanks for your support! Have a great weekend.

Ch-ch-changes

Some major things have been happening, and I'll be blogging all about them when I have time to do it right.

Please bear with me; I hope to make it worthwhile. And I hope you're all well.

More Like Wit's End...

Ok...so the title of this post is a bit dramatic. But I got a new Lands' End catalog today. And I realize that this picture is not a very big one. BUT it made me think of something.

THIS.

Is it not an almost complete rip-off?! One is autumn-y, and one is spring-y, but look at the primary colored door and the happy couple. Even the font for 'fleece' is verrrry similar to the Blueprint logo.

This reminds me how much I miss the short-lived but well received Blueprint. It was full of cool ideas and wit. And this reminds me how Lands' End tries extremely hard to be hip but usually just falls short. You may not be able to tell it from that top picture, but the guy's glasses are all wrong. :)

Hospitality

Last week I had a few errands to run, and I was able to stay with some good friends of mine. My pal Ashley's sister Amy was out of town and graciously opened her upstairs suite to me for the evening.

Here is her ultra cozy bed. It slept as well as it looks. Trust me.

Here is a small dresser that's being utilized as a nightstand. It was awesome. Amy even queued up a soothing playlist for me on her iPod; I wish I'd had time to listen.

Notice the excellent color on the walls. It's a very pale bluish/silver. And it's a huge improvement over the previous color.
Amy has great style. Here is an art piece that she found. She wanted me to make it clear that her room is not exactly finished just yet, but I think it's dang-near perfect. Everything works really well without being overly 'done' or complicated. Plus, she has excellent book and art collections.

Way to go, Amy! Thanks again.

Time is Pilin' Up...

...we struggle and we scrape--all boxed in, nowhere to escape. :)

So go the lyrics of one of my all-time favorite songs, 'Mississippi'. It was written and originally performed by Bob Dylan (whose notoriety still makes me scratch my head), but Sheryl Crow's version is my favorite.

At any rate, please bear with me (and Real Simple's image of "bad Scrabble letters") as some major changes are taking place in my life. There are tons of good things in the pipeline, and I'll give you faithful readers the scoop when I can.

Bobbing for Daylight

What? October already?! I know I say this each month, but seriously--where did September go? I have no idea, but I am digging the chillier mornings. Anywho, it's to-do list time!

1. I'm going to Dollywood with Ann Marie in a couple of weeks!! Yes, there will be a blog post--or maybe even a series. Pumped.

2. Celebrate birthdays (again). Let's see...there's my friend Sarah's baby, one of my nieces, and my twin brother.

3. Eat more apples. This is the ideal time of year for that. Plus, it's one of the few items from the produce aisle that does not elicit snarls.

And what's on the not-to-do list?

1. Overdo it on the candy! Halloween is so great for buying (and enjoying) those little individually wrapped portions. Whew.

2. Forget to sanitize my desk, phone, and hands at work. Yuck. It still astounds me that customers will come in, hacking and sneezing, and admit to having the flu or other disease.

3. Neglect to thank my loyal blog readers! Tah dah! Thanks so much for visiting and for leaving comments. It really does mean quite a bit to me. Enjoy October!
